Man Found Shot In Pickup Truck On Suffolk County Highway

Police are asking the public for help after finding a man shot inside a vehicle at the intersection of Northville Turnpike and County Road 58.

Riverhead Police discovered the man around 10: 11 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6, after receiving numerous 911 calls reporting a vehicle crash and a possible shooting, said Riverhead Police Det. Mark Stromski.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a Hispanic male inside of a Dodge Dakota pickup truck parked on the side of the roadway, Stromski said.

The man was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center via Suffolk County Police Medivac for serious, but non-life- threatening injuries, he added.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area or witnessed the incident to contact police at 631-727-4500.
